Strength 2 Strength

Strength 2 Strength focused on skills and capacity building for artists, organisations and young emerging talent. It comprised 3 interlinked strands which are complemented by the region’s existing activity. These are:

Critical Mass

Critical Mass was Birmingham 2022 Festival’s flagship participation programme. It saw 242 young people from across the West Midlands engage to form a dance collective that performed at some of 2022’s biggest events, including the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony.

Beyond Borders

In 2021, Beyond Borders brought together dance artists, aspiring young leaders, young people, digital artists and a variety of specialists to collaborate and produce an original work in response to #OnewithNature.

#DanceConnect

#DanceConnect, which ran from May to August 2020, was a dance and digital experiment exploring how we can collaborate remotely across borders and boundaries, using movement and phones. Every part of the creative enquiry project took place during COVID-19 lockdown
